U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today will move ahead with new rules

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today will move ahead with new rules requiring lower pollution levels for cars and trucks and cleaner gasoline, despite an intense lobbying effort by the energy industry.

The Washington Post reports that officials believe the rules will have the pollution-reduction impact of taking 33 million cars off the road. They would sharply cut sulfur levels in gas and set new pollution levels for cars by 2017. Read More…
